Enduring Legacy: Photos of the Otoe-Missouria People

The exclusive opening reception will be Tuesday, May 22nd from 6pm-8pm at the Pioneer Woman Museum located at 701 Monument Rd. This exhibit contains historical photographs of the tribe from the late 19th through early 21st centuries. The images show the history, culture, daily life and family connections of a tribe that continues to thrive in the modern day. For more information contact 580-765-6108.

Cherokee Strip Golf Classic

September 6th, 2018 All Day - September 8th, 2018
We are pleased to invite you to join us for our 57th Annual Cherokee Strip Golf Classic extravaganza sponsored by the Ponca City Country Club as a charity for the Opportunity Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The dates, as always, are the weekend after Labor Day, with a practice round on Thursday, September 6th, and team play on Friday and Saturday, September 7th and 8th.

Marland Children's Home Tallgrass Tour

Tallgrass Tour is a bike event benefiting the Marland Children's Home on September 29, 2018. Registration opens on March 1, 2018 and starts at $37.00. September 15, 2018 the prices go up to $42.00 to register, and on the day of, the prices for registration will be $45.00. Tandem riders are asked to register separately. Tallgrass Tour is funded by local and out of town sponsors. If you would like to sponsor this event you can find more information on the "sponsorships" page.

2018 Cherokee Strip BBQ Cookoff

The 32nd Annual Cherokee Strip Cook-off will once again be held on the banks of Lake Ponca in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The cook-off is a State Championship and sanctioned by KCBS. You will have an opportunity to taste some of the best barbeque available cooked by professional cooks. Activities include musical entertainment, and a People’s Choice award given to the crowd-selected favorite BBQ and Chili.

Prairie to Palate hosted by the Pioneer Woman Museum

Standing Bear Powwow

The Standing Bear Powwow in Ponca City will be held September 28-29, 2018 next to Standing Bear Park. The powwow is hosted by the six north-central tribes of Oklahoma the last Friday and Saturday of September each year. Standing Bear Powwow features inter-tribal dancing, exhibition dancing, contest dancing, tiny tot contests and the crowning of the Standing Bear Princess. Visitors will also find a variety of arts and craft vendors, along with a wide variety of food vendors.
